About the fishing cabin
The fishing cabins are very comfortable and cozy, making you feel at home as soon as enter the room. The warm wooden interior creates a nice atmosphere, and when you look over the water from the terrace, you know you made the right choice. It will be hard to resist to go fishing right away.
And why would you resist this urge? Just get your gear and step aboard your fishing boat rental. You will be doing what you like best in only minutes time. We offer 18 ft Øien 530 boats with 25 HP Honda outboards, 20 ft Øien 620 boats with 50HP Honda outboards, and 20 ft ‘Yellow boats’ with 20 HP Tohatsu outboard engines. All fishing boats are equipped with GPS, fish finder and life jackets. These boats are wide, stable and thanks to the relatively low sides, you have a really good ‘feeling’ with the water. This is especially nice if your fishing actively with soft baits and lures.
About the fishing
Nearby the floating harbor, there are already good fishing grounds. casting with light jigs and softbaits can result in quite interesting sized cod and coalfish already. When you go out onto the more open waters, you are about to hit the larger shoals of fish. We recommend to scale up with your tackle, and choose a soft plastic of 15 - 25 cm. Let it drop down and jig it back at an easy pace, lift the rod and on the drop there is a good chance of the bigger cod gulping it up. Time for action! Fish of 20 - 30 lb are caught frequently.
Now you might be interested in something even bigger than that… Well, we got what you’re looking for: halibut. There is no guarantee that you will catch such a magnificent beast, but there is a good chance you will! Whole small coalfish is a good bait, but don’t underestimate fishing with soft plastics.
This method, using heavy spinning rods, has become increasingly popular over the last few years. Our super tip: don’t strike on the first touch, but wait a bit and play with the bait until you feel a good old take. This is the sign that the whole bait has been inhaled: set the hook firmly and be ready for a tough fight!
